Pastors.ai instantly makes text-based chatbots based on YouTube videos. Our users have already created 15,000 sermon chatbots to generate devotionals, discussion guides, and social media posts. Currently, hundreds of questions a day get asked to these chatbots powered by Pastors.ai. During the hackathon, we turned this text chatbot into a voice chatbot. Pastors want their congregation to engage more with their messages, and churchgoers want to interact with their pastors 1:1. Voice chatbots allow this to happen in a more intimate and comforting way. 

When we invited Scott Beck to demo it by asking a question, he said “It’s very comforting to hear John’s voice.” We use a few different AI components, stitched together in a seamless way:

1) We use speech-to-text (via Whisper) so that the user can talk with their pastor. 
2) We keep vector embeddings of our growing sermon library (15,000 sermons/videos so far) in a local database (via FAISS). 
3) We made our own algorithm to isolate just the sermon portion of the video
4) We generate a well-reasoned response based on all the specific pastor’s teachings (via GPT4 and orchestrated by Langchain).
5) We output the text of the response along with citation links (via Pastors.ai)
6) And finally, text-to-speech is generated from the pastor’s cloned voice (via ElevenLabs).

During the hackathon, we built #1 and #6 along with the UI to support voice on mobile.
